Anyway to wrap up rant #356 about 'emotional labour:' if you find you're doing a lot of it and it's a burden, consider that it might be because this is your instinctive behaviour that you need to change for your own wellbeing rather than everyone else changing to match you.

My wife the PsychMD says if you're prone to giving emotional assistance be careful for the emotional vampires. You have to recognize them.before they exhaust you. And then just say no, and distance yourself from them. You can't help them or change them.
