There must be some pleasure in taking a statement out of context and finding a way in which it doesn't apply or has an exception because so many people do it, but I can't imagine what it is or how it works.

Perhaps that is something to study? Twitter and Youtube turns off that filter in our brain that says "Don't say this." We don't even act this badly on forums and other legacy social media, so why do we act this stupid on Twitter?
