Helen Pluckrose Retweeted Betrayal Trauma Recovery

This is very disturbing, particularly the masturbation one. You don't own somebody's body if you are in a relationship with them. You might agree to be exclusive but this doesn't mean your partner themselves loses the right to touch their own body. That would be abusive.https://twitter.com/betrayaltrauma/status/1052991638434275328 …

What is really offensive is that ACTUAL abuse victims are trying to get help, but being silenced by this type of mocking. Women in relationships with men who cheat on them repeatedly through masturbation, porn, infidelity are in abusive relationships. Believe victims!

I wonder which they consider to be worse - masturbating thinking of their partner or masturbating thinking of someone else? The former they might consider assault, the latter cheating. But does this apply mutatis mutandis to women too?

What's food for the goose is sauce for the gander... Why is logic eschewed by grievance studies? Double standards are frequent and disturbing. It is not logic to say "men have had it well for millennia so let's oppress them harshly now to make up for that"!

People are very confused right now, more then ever, about their relationships with sex and sexuality. And the misuse of the word “abuse” is hurting people who are ACTUALLY being abused.

This is the same argument I heard from some Indians who don’t think young girls should use tampons or Mooncups because the future husband should be the first to penetrate the vagina. Bizarre in both cases. It’s your own body.

It's neo-puritanism in my view. Taking sexual assault seriously is important but there are some who have exchanged religious language for a language of victimhood, assault and trauma and see sex as purely dangerous and sinful. They want to usher in a new Victorian age.

Why are they insisting on talking about porn addiction and infidelity *at the same time*? It’s making the conversation so dumb my head hurts. I can see that both could be damaging, but in completely different ways.

I agree. especially the masturbation bit. I can not see any connection to victimhood. is using a vibrator cheating too? this is absurd
