I think some people are overreacting to Keira Knightley saying she has chosen films for her 3-year-old daughter in which women have strong roles and rejected ones in which they are passive. I don't know any of her other views on gender issues which could be awful but this is OK.

I agree. I believe in discussion, not censorship, when it comes to tough issues. You can’t prevent your children from seeing the world but you can help them contextualize it, and as a parent, that’s what you should be doing.

I've always been interested in folklore and folklife. Of interest wrt Cinderella is that it's a morality tale, and the particular morals it emphasizes are way out of favor these days; I would say they're emphatically out of favor the further left one goes.

Honestly, one of my big concerns about things is how the former when it comes face to face with a dash of failure can morph into the latter. I actually tend to support the former as well, but I think there's a certain needle to be threaded there.
