I'd like to study gender specifically and from a range of perspectives, biological, psychological and sociological. All together so no-one comes away with just the bits that suit their biases. This is usually why a subject is studied separately.

Your topic seems to fit *social* psychology well. Social psychologists study how psychology shapes and is shaped by social relations. Some publish in sociology journals. Other people in psych depts study physiological foundations. IMHO, a psych dept would be a good place for you.
