The Marxists are very happy with me for having attacked postmodernism in grievance studies but concerned that I am still not a Marxist. I am now being sent much reading on how overcoming postmodernism should lead society to embracing socialism.

There was a piece in the Weekly Worker, the newspaper of the Communist Party of GB, that was arguing for a stronger, less polite, pushback against Intersectional Left. https://weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/1206/intersectionality-is-a-dead-end/ …

Yep. And they were positive about our project.https://twitter.com/SEP_US/status/1051608664740638725 …

If you want to read a Marxist critique of postmodernism I would recommend Against Postmodernism: A Marxist Critique by Alex Callinicos (old book though)
-
perfectly named though. clear and concise. The good old days.

If so, one thing that puzzles me, is why then, when postmodernism seems to have supremacy in the humanities' faculty, do the humanity students tend to come out demanding communism and socialism, usually with the former group's support?

Here's a controversial "blue sky" question: If there were huge advances in behaviour economics and policy research, could communism work in the foreseeable future? As
@harari_yuval says on recent@SamHarrisOrg show, some ideas (democracy) have technological preconditions. -
well, advanced behavior economics would hone in on human nature better than communism, so wouldn't they provide different conclusions. outcomes and methods?
-
Yeh I guess I'm using "socialism" here as shorthand for an increased role for government and regulation (but that actually works).

The best form of government is having good intelligent people in office and a mixture of socialism, democracy and capitalism.

My observation has been that there are very, very few non-postmodernist Marxists. Their allegiance to anarchistic economic theories makes conversation with them, albeit more pleasant, not much worthwhile. There's nothing to be learned because "pure" Marxism has never been tried.
