The Marxists are very happy with me for having attacked postmodernism in grievance studies but concerned that I am still not a Marxist. I am now being sent much reading on how overcoming postmodernism should lead society to embracing socialism.

I would really like them to engage the postmodernists more visibly but they generally feel there is little point in this as they are not using reasoned arguments, rarely address class & know very little about economics. They're probably right but I still wish they would.

Too many Marxists are also Post-structuralists / Intersectionals. The small amount who aren't are, yes, more pleasant. Intersectionals are almost by defition unpleasant.
-
No, the latter include some anti-capitalism rhetoric but subordinate the capitalism bogeyman to the patriarchy, white supremacy and imperialism bogeymen. They almost never prioritise the working class coz it includes white men & spoils the narrative.
-
Yes, it's true, but they still identify as Marxist, Communist or some type of Anarchist (i.e Anarco-Syndicalist) or Libertarian Socialist. The overthrow of Capitalism is still on their agenda, but you are correct, they will not often speak much about the proletariat b/c white men

No doubt, critical race and gender theory concepts in particular, not simply "postmodernism", have gained a wide currency among Radical Left and center left social liberals alike. But there is stiffening resistance and pushback from both quarters as well.

Have them read Böhm-Bawerk's refutation of Marx.

I can see this, but in the same way that I always liked the Westboro Baptist Church better than the "love the sinner but hate the sin" types. Because the WBC told me exactly what they believed, and the latter were all wishy washy about it. Not sure that's really an improvement.

Economics - Labour theory of value is a train wreck.

You really don't need a huge amount of economic training, despite what they tell you. Marxism posits certain "laws" that history teaches and suggests an analytical mode. I think you know enough already. If they insist on more, its because they can't really debate.

socialism in a modern service based economy is absurd.

If economics is the art of coping with scarcity, Marx didn’t have much of any interest in it either. He says finite natural resources are the female to labour-value’s male, then pretty much leaves her to it from there. Marx sexist man evar.
