Oh...my....god. Immediately after I was warned this would happen, it happened in deluges. I'm sure it's not this annoying when I police people's tea-making.https://twitter.com/JolLow/status/1052577461135921152 …

French press is the easiest method but the best is stove-top espresso (Bialetti). But boil the water FIRST, then add boiling water to the bottom half and screw on the top half carefully using a towel, then add the coffee... on second thoughts, use a French press, you are not

Wait! Why boil water first? I use a bialetti daily and now I want to know if I can improve it.

I learned this from @krishashok: it means that the coffee grounds come into contact with the hot metal (the reaction produces bitter molecules) for less time. It really works (& is easier than it sounds).

If you have two Bialettis, try using one for each method & blind taste-testing. :)

I have several bialettis (for when I have guests) so I will compare and contrast :-)

If it's not in a French press it's not worth drinking, Helen.

French presses make full-bodied but flat coffee that's bitter on the end because the fines keep steeping until the bottom of the cup. They're severely overrated. Pour-over methods are superior but take skill. Best is a hybrid pour-over/steeping approach, which requires tools.

It's bitter at the end just like life, if you're not contemplating the fragility of the human condition with every cup you're drinking coffee wrong.

For real, though, a French Press will take coffee from 0 to 60 really fast. And very easily. Makes all the difference in the world!
