So many people arguing that evidence-based epistemologies are faulty are using an evidence-based epistemology to demonstrate this. You are not criticising evidence-based epistemology. You're showing that systems which claim to work on one don't always do it properly & how we know

We are not complaining that peer-review systems in grievance studies are failing to meet their standard of evidence-based epistemology. We are complaining that they don't have such a standard. They are very effective at meeting the irrational, standpoint epistemology they do have

It's unclear just what an 'evidence-based epistemology' is supposed to be. Why should I not acquire evidence from deconstructive techniques, or divine revelation, or from inhabiting my unique standpoint.
-
The epistemology is founded, in part, upon the mechanism of peer review. Regardless of the source of your evidence, its validity depends on its ability to withstand the rigors of other perspectives and critiques.
-
It’s not supposed to be easy to pave new ground. That is the bar set by evidence-based epistemology, namely scientific method.

Yes, I think we can agree that there's a lack of intellectual discipline in certain fields without agreeing on the details of the best epistemology. If the gatekeepers can't distinguish amateurs trying to be silly from serious research, there's obviously a problem.
-
It's just that I find 'evidence-based epistemology' vague. In particular, I don't see that it necessarily excludes divine revelation, deconstruction, or privileged standpoints. One might just think that, while epistemology ought to be evidence-based, these are evidence sources.
-
I’m not denying that they are legitimate first person sources. I’m saying that the evidence supplied by whatever source, should be subjected to—and survive—the process of peer review, among other methodologies, in order to gain traction as Truth.
