So many people arguing that evidence-based epistemologies are faulty are using an evidence-based epistemology to demonstrate this. You are not criticising evidence-based epistemology. You're showing that systems which claim to work on one don't always do it properly & how we know

It is essential to recognise the difference between the poor functioning of evaluative systems which work on evidence-based epistemology and evaluative systems which work on other epistemologies - divine revelation, deconstructive techniques, standpoint theory etc.

We are not complaining that peer-review systems in grievance studies are failing to meet their standard of evidence-based epistemology. We are complaining that they don't have such a standard. They are very effective at meeting the irrational, standpoint epistemology they do have

They're sexists speaking from the unitary masculine imaginary. They're performative allies seeking to center themselves by gaining status and privilege. They're problematic af.

They're rediscovered the insight of Ethan Allen, who observed those who argue against reason's utility do so using reason, thereby reaffirming its indispensability. See Carl Sagan's the Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark (1996).

Honest to god if you have any remaining wonders about the religious nature of these groups, notice how similar they debate to creationists, including using science to disprove science.

How rude. I’m fascinated by the epistemology discussion and wish @HPluckrose would tweet MORE. I suggest you go follow @kimkardashian if these philosophical topics are not your cup of tea.

Ugh. Why can’t I love what she says but still be bothered by excessive tweeting. I’m a big fan of helens work, happened to dislike the lots of tweets.
