Accepting that an objective reality exists does not imply that people can be sure that any proposed model of reality is exactly right, or that any testing can prove it so. We can hold our models of nature in high confidence, but we cannot be sure of them.

That is why knowledge is always provisional. This only needs to be acknowledged & then we can get on with discovering things. Some people do this & eradicate smallpox. Others like to stand in the fog of the impossibility of absolute knowledge & go on about it pseudo-profoundly
