The bad thing is addressing topics authoritatively when we are ignorant of them. And I think people who know a lot about a certain topic are more aware of their ignorance on other topics & less inclined to be judgmental about ppl being ignorant of theirs.

Exactly. Ignorance is no crime. We are all ignorant of most things. As long as you're open to new facts and ideas, you're doin' it right. Willful ignorance, however, is the real problem!

Ignorance isn't a bad thing; wilful ignorance is, however, something else entirely. It's important to be open minded and intellectually curious. It's healthy to have your thoughts/perceptions challenged on regular basis. This is how we grow.
