    Helen Pluckrose Retweeted Elaine Laroche

A minute ago you described the stuff we got in as hiccups of little import. Now you're echoing it & showing why it matters. It doesn't stay in the academy. "Verbal violence," ffs, cos we highlighted problems in identity studies.https://twitter.com/elaine__laroche/status/1050606177921331200 …

Then question it without verbal violence.

You are demonstrating what we addressed as a problem repeatedly. The idea that language is violent.

You can talk about whatever you want. I won't hear it anymore. You make no attempt to use reason.

Anyone spouting the phrase "verbal violence" is already speaking a whole other language than the rest of society. Designing language to prevent dialog is authoritarian tactics 101. The people really think 1984 is an instruction manual.

Unsurprisingly she runs a business wherein her entire income is based on perpetuating this nonsense.

She perpetuates this lunacy for money Helen. This is an excerpt from her site that offers "training" in "leadership" etc. The highlighted section is basically a call to fire people who do not subscribe to their conspiracy theorising.pic.twitter.com/4J7F3nnrBz

In further conversations she starts demanding other people google the evidence for her side of the argument, so there's clearly no point engaging that one.

The line between speech and act has been the most effective dampening lid on actual violence that we've had for centuries. Why can't people like @Elaine_Laroche see that all they're doing is washing away the taboo against real violence?
