What about the step you missed, warming the pot. (Too complicated?)

Wouldn't the hot water warm the pot without needing another step?

It cools down a bit at once if the pot is cold and then the tea doesn't brew as well. Near boiling water needs to be on the leaves.

You can also warm the cups in this way. My grandma did this. She also had her own blend of loose leaf tea delivered to her every month. And a servant.
