I'd actually be very interested in info on this. It might be true that men are more prone to seek women's time and space than other men's but I strongly suspect they are not nearly as prone to this as women are. I have ranted about this frequently. I know this is a slightly different thing to men making unwanted small talk with women of an irritating kind like "Smile! It may never happen." But I think if we're going to claim men encroach on women's space & time coz of some sense of entitlement, it merits being brought up.

Oh God, yes. Women are the sex that get chattered AT, but by women even more than men.

In mixed gender social settings I am expected to socialize with other women. I am a tomboy and am generally more interested in and comfortable socializing with the guys, and tend to drift in that direction. When this inevitably happens women get angry and snooty towards me.
-
Most of my friends are female and I do tend to enjoy the way conversation flows in a group of women more than when talking to men on average. But not every woman. I prefer my own company to that of people I find dull.
-
I have many female as well, but just tend to get on better with men in general. The biggest factor is that not everyone enjoys small talk, and from my experience women tend to engage in it more often.

Women try to hug me, touch my arm, get in my personal space and generally attempt physical/emotional connections in ways that make me uncomfortable much more than men do. I don’t like to be hugged, touched, etc, and most women are surprised when I tell them this.

My grandmother used to always put her arm around me and stroke my shoulder with her thump. Drove me crazy for years. I finally told her how I felt, and she was flabbergasted. She enjoyed that type of physical connection from others and couldn’t comprehend that I didn’t

Dogs, like women, are sort of universally expected to be friendly and enthusiastic about meeting and socializing with others of their type. Mine is none of those things. She saves me having to explain my own unsociability because her contempt for other dogs is so obvious.

I love being a mum, especially so when my kids were young. What I didn’t love? Endless inane conversations about minutia I kept getting trapped into listening to. I wanted to yell: “can we talk about something other than our kids and what brand of laundry powder you use & why”
