There simply is no point in blaming men for violent crime. We cannot decrease the number of men. Most men do not commit violent crime so there is another variable here. We want to decrease the number of violent criminals so focus should be on them. Why is this hard, @simple81?https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/1050230385509052416 …

Criminals! You could say all violent crime is committed by humans. Or you can narrow in and say most of it is committed by men. Narrow again & say all of it is committed by violent criminals (who are a tiny minority of mostly men.) Why stop at the 2nd stage if you want to fix it? https://twitter.com/simple81/status/1050229221447094272 …

This blaming of men for violent crime is basically the feminist version of the conservative trope that Muslims or Islam are responsible for terrorism. In both cases, it’s really a minority of violent ppl who do the bad stuff. Blaming whole groups for it only foments hatred.

I think the best version of that argument is folks saying that perhaps there is something worth interrogating in socially practiced (enforced thru standards/roles/behaviors) masculinity that makes it more causal that men across all demographics commit the most violent assaults.

Of course the same argument could be made (and frequently is) by evolutionary theorists who posit that the link is biological but even they argue it is causal and not coincidental.

Exactly! Looking through feminist lens, one will mistakenly think men can be 'tamed'....if only they were more like women?! Impossible and plain silly. The key is as you say, focus on the violent criminals. Make life for them more difficult.

There just aren’t enough violent public executions anymore.

Maybe the answer to all this is in the wording. I think using sex/race/religion when discussing statistical criminality can be useful in analyzing behavior, but only when it's carefully worded so as to not insinuate that all from those groups bear innate criminal characteristics.

You can decrease the number of men, and if you'd waited long enough, you probably could have published something explaining why and how!

Because she has nothing interesting to say. She just wants to keep her talking points and resentment instead of fixing the issue.
