I wouldn't. If my postman, hairdresser or accountant believes the Earth is flat, this does not affect their work at all.https://twitter.com/vingAints/status/1005562357316235269 …

Agreed & I'll give you an example of a view whose origins are religious and IMHO warrant instant dismissal. Flat Earther's views - no one that stupid and deluded should be on anyone's payroll. I certainly would like to retain the right for firing them with strong prejudice.

"What the deuce is it to me?" [Holmes] interrupted impatiently; "you say that we go round the sun. If we went round the moon it would not make a pennyworth of difference to me or to my work." - A Study in Scarlet, Arthur Conan Doyle

That may be true for Holmes in looking at cigar ash and watermarks, but he wouldn't assert something that he couldn't back up. That's the difference - these people actively assert that nonsense and defend it against all reason. That's NOT Holmesian!

<nod> Even so, a flat earth debate is always fun (as long as it remains unheated). Don't be too cross with me, but sometimes I take the flat side, just for fun.

So you like to troll for fun now and again. No problem there! ;-)

Oh, but "troll" is such a pejorative term, don't you think? Let's say I, um, assist roundworlders in honing their debating skills. Yes. Yes, that sounds much better than "troll".

PS - I have some friends who proudly proclaim that they enjoy "trolling" for fun now and again, not pejorative in those cases - and how I was applying the term for you.

Fear not. I'm no snowflake. 20 years of Usenet gives one a certain amount of experience in discerning the intent (hostile or, as in this case, otherwise) of the writer. In other words, if I thought you were a jerk, I wouldn't have bothered answering. 😃

I appreciate your argument, but I whole-heartedly disagree. The Flat-Earther's problem solving skills and analytic ability have malfunctioned to a pretty alarming degree. All people (esp accountants) need to solve problems during the day regardless of their tasks. I'd fire them.

Anyone who thinks the people who serve them do NOT hold stupid views is seriously deluded. If you take the time to talk to people you'll find most of them are full of bad information. PS I'm not recommending talking to people. It's depressing and pointless.
