I have inherited a little money. Enough to fix up my house which has not had anything done to it since we moved in & spent a year decorating & renovating 13 years ago. I'm going to fix the electrics and have a proper shower and everything. A properly functioning modern house!

I am not updating my kitchen tho. I like it being old-fashioned with mismatched cupboards and sideboards. It functions just fine and I have painted flowers over the wood panels. It has character.

I am also trying to get someone more able-bodied and capable of climbing on step-ladders to come & help me have a very thorough spring clean but we keep having a problem when we get to the 'Do you have any pets?' question. Look, I will cover up the boa constrictor, OK?!

OK, this isn't fun anymore. Bathrooms shouldn't require research. I want to be able to point at a picture and then have someone come & do it in exchange for money. I should not be expected to learn about types of shower and have any kind of clue about colour schemes.

Not loving the idea of having to go to friends' houses for a shower every day for two weeks either. Maybe the bathroom doesn't need modernising. Showers are nice but we've been doing fine with rinsing our hair by tipping jugs of water over our heads.

Attempts are currently being made to convince me that what is really in desperate need of updating in this house is the gaming technology. I am outnumbered on this issue. Now being reassured that they will do all the research necessary.pic.twitter.com/vfOvZHHqEZ

Inheritance is a strange thing. The money is useful, but you'd rather the person who left it to you was still around.

Yes. I hope to never inherit from my parents. This was an uncle I had only met a few times and who had been very ill with MS for decades. It was very kind of him.

Yes. And when it is our time we will think about how we can help those who are still here.

Home renovations are my life right now. I just built a sweet concrete wall! Now I’m building a new dock. It’s horrible and awesome by turns.

It’s cheap if u do everything yourself. It takes more time tho. As a stay at home dad, I’m lucky to have the time to teach myself trades (YouTube) and tackle the projects.

Yeah, we did that the first time but I'm very busy and also much less able-bodied now.

Being young and aimless occasionally works out.. Although after digging that trench and moving all that concrete, I feel a lot less able bodied lol. My joints pop in all sorts of new and exciting locations!

You deserve it for basically owning Twitter and lamplighting the way for the rest of us - I coin the phrase lamplighting here as an antonym of gaslighting
