Is this a real thing? Men warning women of manholes are actually sexist?https://twitter.com/Liz_Fine/status/1005024520711917568 …

Anecdotally, I've observed that my female friends actually do seem to have less situational awareness than my male friends. But that could just be my circle of friends and not a general thing. *shrug* Also, men seem more likely to notice danger and then ignore or exacerbate it.
-
My experience with situational awareness in a nutshell: Guy 1: "Watch out for that snake." Girl: "What snake? Oh, wow! I'll go around it." Guy 2: "Hey wait, guys, I'm gonna go get a stick and poke it, hahaha! Someone video me."

The vast majority (probably 95-99%) of Darwin Awards are won by men. On the other hand, most explorers, inventors etc are men too. It's telling how some are happy to accept the badness of men (more violent etc) but get grumpy if you point out they're good at some stuff too :p

This should actually be "why don't people warn men more"

Carelessness, or sheer flippant disregard for life and limb?

I think the difference might be in how the warning is phrased: "Be careful. There's a manhole there." vs "Watch where going, moron! Trying to kill youself? Jesus."
