They internalise different roles. Psychologically they think they are defending a noble role essential to society not their inferiority. People just didn't have the values that we have now. You don't hear tradlife women say they deserve this role coz inferior but coz respected

More men support gender equality than women in the UK. 86% of men and 74% of women. Women can often be more socially conservative although more women than men get involved in women's movement. It's just really complicated.

In the same way, I would object to being lumped in with racists and homophobes because I am part of a society which has discriminated against people of colour & LGBT, I'd also urge you to see the sexism problem as one of competing values, not competing genders.
