You got right to the heart of it here. Selling out on Epistemology is a great way to word it. Also, Lawrence, can you tell me when we will have enough cause to raise awareness? My lefty friends work very hard to ignore all the ongoing issues.

That seems to be an unfair description of someone who has honestly disagreed with you and explained why.
-
You haven't. You keep talking to me like I'm a right-wing anti-SJW when I have never defended that approach once & linked you a few pieces saying so. You're declining to address what I am actually saying.

It's odd some of the people I am "closest" to when it comes to liberal tolerance manage to be the first people to box me in with near polar ideological opposites. Happens on Facebook all the time. I can literally argue for gay rights, and be called homophobic. It's unreal.
-
Lawrence, why do you fight climate change skepticism even when a rather small fraction of scholars are climate change skeptics?
-
I'm more concerned with politicians and fossil fuel lobbyists who wield real political power and publuv influence while rejecting established science.
-
As you should be. Others are concerned with institutions of tremendous cultural power controlling a certain narrative on progressing toward a more fair and liberal future while denying science.
-
I share that concern, as do many other academics, which is why it is not helpful to paint universities as hotbeds of intolerance based on a few high profile cases. It is a good way to divide rather than engage with those who agree as well as those who disagree.
-
I was penalised for saying sexual selection is real & racism is best overcome by focusing on commonalities. 90% of UK universities censor some words to do with marginalised groups. Censoring & no-platforming are common, as are protests of liberals and feminists.
-
I feel sure you'd see the problem if universities were predominantly conservative & censored words which countered their worldview and every week saw another case of someone being fired or vilified for disagreement. It matters. Why do you think Heterodox Academy exists?
