Lunch break. Forgot my lunch so had to go through the ritual of trying to find the least weird sandwich available and pay lots of money for it while wondering, yet again, why Americans talk several decibels louder than everyone else. :-p

I've been told I'm loud by other Americans. You'd hate me if you don't already. lol

I'M SORRY I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF MY FREEDOM 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 I have a couple friends who have traveled internationally and they said this as well. Apparently Americans are "loud and excited and hyper."

‘Brash’ is one of our favourite words to describe y’all!

But I like Americans, they have the assertive confidence we lack. Plus they’re just much friendlier.

"Brash." I like that, and I will happily wear that label. I find "assertive confidence" to be an interesting choice of descriptor given the prevalence of anxiety and depression (myself included).

Maybe it’s just how general Americans come across. My brother is loud and confident but deals with a load of internal anxiety.

Should I get the opportunity to travel abroad, I will have to make note of the personalities and mannerisms I encounter

Maybe it's a shibboleth. (This would also explain New York car horns.) Can't help you on the lunch thing. If I forget mine, I generally go without, because - as you hint - the alternatives are inedible and over-priced.

Were I an entrepreneur I would realise this country is desperate for a place to get a half decent sandwhich/wrap/salad. Boo! to soggy ass brie and pinapple bullshit boo!

The country is large so people have to shout to be heard across the greater distance.
