I've just been looking at what the major philosophical outlets, institutions and encyclopaedias see as most worth foregrounding. I have decided to return to begin & research PoMo as tho I know nothing about it. This will hopefully throw up stuff that I've neglected previously.

I've already realised that I have largely neglected the Italians but I think I will continue to do so - they might get a few paragraphs - because the French and, to lesser extent, the Germans are way more responsible for the current mess we find ourselves in.

Man, I wish your budget stretched to a professional editor because I would LOVE to help you cut that monster down to size. (I'm good at trimming.)
-
It's just notes at the moment. I will keep them all but select from them. I might well need an editor later for chapters and, if so, will ask your going rate before trying anywhere else.
-
Yay! It would be fun to work together.

I trust it's a scholarly book. I think it's a very impt subject but will your huge scope make it readable to your audience? (Of course, I don't know your audience :)) Best wishes!!
-
My scope is not huge. I am tracing a few key ideas from postmodernism, through successive waves of critical theory, into social justice activism and mainstream society.

What strikes me as odd, as someone who remembers it from its previous heyday as a vogue-word in the '70s and '80s, is that it now seems to be used with a completely different meaning. I don't remember it having political connotations at all then.
-
I discuss that here: https://areomagazine.com/2018/02/07/no-postmodernism-is-not-dead-and-other-misconceptions/ … Kimberle Crenshaw articulated it most explicitly but the same general process happened all over.

Check out Explaining Postmodernism by Stephen Hicks for a fascinating argument about it being a counter-Enlightenment ideology
-
Of course, I have read Hicks.
-
Unfortunately I just found out the Peterson crowd is obsessed with it. Ugh. Now if I ever bring it up in an argument I’ll have to explain I read it ten years ago, not because Peterson said it was good...
