I suspect that nearly everyone who uses the acronym 'TERF' does so with a meaning somewhere between 'neutral' and 'deserves violence.' That is, it is usually understood to be disparaging the gender critical position but not to be advocating violence against people who hold it.https://twitter.com/lecanardnoir/status/1003097868494954496 …

I can’t believe this isn’t the default opinion, frankly.

I confess that I get confused about where the boundaries lie. I always thought I was a feminist: I was taught by my parents that men and women were equal, and that it was important to actively remember that and confront sexism when I saw it. Now I just feel lost.

As an aside, it seems almost redundant to stipulate that a radical feminist is gender critical/"trans exclusionary"; I've not interacted with a single one who was anything but. I'm sure they exist, but the that seems to be the default RadFem position, and understandably so.

Do these feminists believe that gender is a nonsense term or that gender is synonymous with sex?
-
The latter. They’re quite obsessed with anatomy. You’ll see lots of them calling themselves “vagina haver,” “vaginacentric,” etc. Some of their critiques of gender nonsense are on point but it’s motivated by jealous (to the point of viciousness) guardianship of the sisterhood.
