I think pointing out the existence of intrasexual competition is important for eg large data showing that female administrators view female job applicants less favourably than male administrators especially if attractive or explaining single nasty acts between women in a triangle

When it comes to political/ethical/intellectual dispute between people of the same sex tho, I think we'd need to assume sincere, reasoned disagreement first. (Obv, I have moved on from this specific example somewhat coz 'You're a cunt' might be sincere but is not reasoned).

The 'You're just jealous' dodge is a conversation-ender. It's a refusal to look at the reasons being given for criticism of an idea or of a person. Tall Poppy Syndrome might be real but we also need to be able to criticise very successful people so assuming it is rarely helpful.

With intrasexual competition, I think we'd have to reserve diagnosis of it as the cause of a criticism/condemnation to cases where it is not plausible or sincere & the individual gives other evidence of attacks on people of the same sex.

I would apply a different lens as well. This Bee-Trump conflict seems more like new-fashioned tribalism, which comes with both sides misunderstanding and demonizing the other, both sides pointing out the crimes of the opponent, and seeing their own personal attacks as justified
