Never subscribed to that idea. Neither has any woman I know. I left the job as soon as I was more qualified & created better opportunities for myself outside of the care sector. The CS is low paid bc of systemic issues, skills set & how its run. Nt bc of a maj women workforce.https://twitter.com/soapboxgirl79/status/1002310664600186881 …

"Women have been sold the idea that fulfilment is a substitute for income" is a strange assertion. Fulfilment is surely everyone's goal. The need to make sufficient income can often get in the way of that.

For better or worse I have come to the conclusion that it is a substitution, personally.

Why? What do you mean? Who, given the chance of a fulfilling life, would choose to earn money instead if they didn't have to? Earning money is something people do to afford essentials or afford to do things that are fulfilling because their job isn't.

It's certainly the choice I have felt privileged to be able to make. I can afford to write which I love because I can just about live off the proceeds of an inheritance. I could earn better money if I chose but why would I, if I don't have to?
