Never subscribed to that idea. Neither has any woman I know. I left the job as soon as I was more qualified & created better opportunities for myself outside of the care sector. The CS is low paid bc of systemic issues, skills set & how its run. Nt bc of a maj women workforce.https://twitter.com/soapboxgirl79/status/1002310664600186881 …

For better or worse I have come to the conclusion that it is a substitution, personally.
-
Fulfillment is a substitute for income earning.
-
Why? What do you mean? Who, given the chance of a fulfilling life, would choose to earn money instead if they didn't have to? Earning money is something people do to afford essentials or afford to do things that are fulfilling because their job isn't.
-
It's certainly the choice I have felt privileged to be able to make. I can afford to write which I love because I can just about live off the proceeds of an inheritance. I could earn better money if I chose but why would I, if I don't have to?

Sufficient income is a good thing. Almost a necessity, one might say.
-
Yes, its a great privilege to be able to afford to do something fulfilling which doesn't pay well. I was aware of this as a care worker and as a freelance writer.
-
My wife was a care worker. Now she does animal rights and rescue which pays virtually nothing. I assume the duty of providing the sufficient income, which is, in itself, fulfilling.
