Barbara Applebaum particularly focuses on the need of white people to feel that they are good because they are non-racist as a problem for overcoming racism. I think making it impossible for white people to be good no matter how anti-racist they are would be more of a problem.

This is one of the most succinct descriptions of why identity politics is causing the left to fail. It’s a direct contradiction to their own values. If we aren’t able to demarcate ourselves from this strategy we will be thrown in the ash-heap of history and that’s scary.
