OK, that's it. If you are a statistician who wants to say that the wage gap must be looked at statistically and also that statistics can never ever consider women's choices as their own choices or disprove discrimination as a cause of the wage gap, you are getting muted.

Also, if you're a statistician who says that some statistical work has been done showing discrimination as the cause of the wage gap & then you show me a small sample of interpretations of competence by gender in one workplace, expect to get blocked.

Also if you're a statistician who is rude and condescending to me and speaks in deliberately obscure & irrelevant jargon which is then explained to me very clearly & simply by someone who shares your expertise but not your arseholery, expect to get blocked.

Also, if you are a person in any field who is committed to obfuscating, confusing, & ideologising the issue of gender equality in order to maintain a narrative of female victimhood & make it impossible to investigate and address, expect to lose this culture war & all credibility.

You had the chance to go to university, have a career as an academic, produce rigorous scholarship & actually help make society better, kinder, more knowledgeable & more just and you chose to make it darker, uglier & filled with more resentment, self-pity, rage & confusion.

I am cross now. I didn't know the field of statistics & that was used to spew woo all over me in incomprehensible jargon whilst being rude & condescending & telling me I had no place discussing gender stats. I was willing to accept my ignorance.

Then my American statistician friends wake up & inform me this is the normal ideological woo I deal with daily mediated thru language I don't know. This is how dishonest people work. By making others feel confused & ignorant & incapable of addressing issues that affect us all.

I will write a book which will help people to cut through the bullshit when it comes in the form of the social sciences and humanities and SocJus activism. If others could write a guide to addressing obscurantist woo when it appears in other jargon, that would be great.

We have a right to expect people who address important social justice issues to do in language that can be understood and to do so honestly, supplying evidence & reasoned argument, not to confuse & dissemble & bully others out of even trying to engage with & understand them.

I know it's not the hugest problem in the world right now but it does matter. A lot. How do we progress as a society if our progressives have been overtaken by lunatics?

So it seems that people are admitting that the earnings gap is not evidence for discrimination because it reflects women's choices, but the new take is that these choices themselves are evidence of discrimination.

Yes, because if we really had free choice, we'd make exactly the same ones men do.

Women appear to be discriminating against themselves. This must be stopped.

It's more like describing a cake as being composed of its ingredients, without paying any heed to the recipe used to prepare it, the temperature at which it was baked and the time it spent in the oven.

Funny cause when you deny it's usability in describing anything BUT a predetermined conclusion, seems like you're no baker at all...

By muting opposition, you may commit the mistake of muting someone who in the future may say interesting things. Be careful when burning bridges.
