I am increasingly finding the word 'gotten' sneaking into my vocabulary. It actually is clearer & flows better than using 'got' for both present & past but I will resist this colonialism of my language.
I blame @GodDoesnt for this but he just says 'Reverse colonialism isn't real'

What's Australia's excuse? Same rationale? "gotten" is used everywhere, in Aus.

Clearly, the influence of Yorkshire extends to the furthest reaches of the globe :D

Aussie English is certainly a mishmash. Convicts from all over, but plenty of Scottish, Irish, working class English, etc migrants. What hope did we have?
I've got convict ancestors (plural), but also some from Ireland, Scotland, Lancashire - what hope did *I* have?
-
Indeed, you can take the convicts out of Britain, but you can't take sandpaper away from the Australian cricket team.

Oof, too soon, dude
