How about not weaponizing Bill Russell's death to oversimplify history?
There was a time when plenty of Bostonians and Celtics fans did not love him. And he responded in kind by repping the Celtics organization, not necessarily the fans and city twitter.com/Dart_Adams/sta

What is not talked about is the fact that he was first Black NBA Head Coach, marched along Dr. King, & organized black athletes for civil rights causes. We didn’t just lose a great NBA player. We lost someone who wanted to make a difference. Rest in Power, Mr. Russell & Thank you

There exists no tweet, no statement, no essay, no series of biographies or documentaries that can do true justice to a man who was both the player of his generation…and a man whose life left an indelible imprint on multiple ones.
A true giant…in every way a man can be.

I once spoke to Bill Walton about Bill Russell. BW started the conversation telling me Russell was his hero and how much he loved Russell. Then Walton shared with me just why Russell meant so much to him.
“He is the guy that made the ultimate difference.”

An awesome interview between Big Fun and Russell back in 2009. I remember there being a lot more to this interview on the NBA site. Wonder if they’re around somewhere?

Two simultaneous thoughts:
1) Eric Paschall will probably be the league’s best player on a 2-way contract next season
2) It isn’t brilliant GMing to give out a SRP for Paschall, for him to have a good season at or above expectations, and then not give him the QO.

I think I’m probably a tiny bit lower on the mean/median outcome for the Pelicans heading into this season, but I’m probably right there on upside and probably higher than most on both the mean and upside of Zion this year.
It’s not too hard to envision given his 2021 season.

It’s like watching all these debate shows still talking about the Lakers, Nets, Kyrie and KD…… the same discussion they’ve had for the last month. It’s basically Groundhog Day

If you want to bet Poole, I agree, you should go now. I'm just not excited about Poole at an 18.2% breakeven price. GSW has to find a way to cut some salary, may move Poole, and he becomes a starter. Also always have a looming Curry or Klay injury that puts him in the first 5.

Steph-Dray are but by design. Doesn’t have to be. Think we saw in the Finals you can just give Steph the ball and let him go to work.

The word "engine" evokes a heliocentric star facilitator. Core to Steph's legacy and success is his impact off-ball.
Steph is the piece that makes that offense go, but unlike a car part, he can be versatile.
I'd say he's not an engine...

I think a lot of people are confusing amount of impact vs role in the offense in the context of what you’re saying. Like yeah, replace Draymond with a nonspecific role player and Steph would still do his thing, it’d just be different than the offense they’re currently running.

I had a great time talking 6th Man of the Year with on Buckets. It's one of the most unique awards in all of sports by highlighting the value of a bench player. Listen to the pod to see what we can learn from past winners and how to bet 6th Man this year.
