Good article about the need for critics, reviewers and journos to speak up and call out the hypocrisy of film industry.

    4) The result however isn't just bad service for you though. Staff are rushed off their feet, exhausted and stressed. Dealing with high volume of orders and complaints at same time - not to mention having to deal with unsympathetic managers too.

    3) This style of top down management is far away from ideas of an independent cinema - which PH brand themselves as.

    2) Whereas before, general use of funds were mostly under control of local managers, this is now run by highly detached head office. Simple things like hiring and paying for repairs now need to get okayed by these people first.

    1) He's not wrong... Most of these disappointed customers don't realise tho, these inconveniences aren't due to idleness of on the ground staff/management but the restructuring initiated by Cineworld, to centralise decision making - including use of funds.

Had a lot of conversations about this recently. Although I agree it’s difficult to boycott all companies who don’t pay tax, treat their workers fairly, or disregard the environment, in this case if you have a platform; I t’s important to make a stand and boycott Picturehouse.

(For those not familiar with the extremely long-running dispute, here’s a good primer: ) In short: workers are demanding union recognition and a living wage, and have called for a boycott as long as Picturehouse refuses to negotiate.
