I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I didn't mean to be topical. I say that a lot.

Detective Colombo: "Oh, just one more thing..." In case you missed it, your favorite Twitter detective did some detectiving a bit earlier today, bigly. Enjoy:

Property insurance crisis? No. Poisonous lead pipes? Nope. Teacher shortage? Nuh uh. Gun violence? Uh no. Nazis in Florida? Heil no. Florida Republicans ban diversity programs in colleges & prevent students &teachers from using preferred pronouns.

I'm going to go all Emily Post here and say that some titles are lifetime titles as a matter of protocol and respect, rather than right granted by the government. (I say this as a holder of one of them.) But "president", as Ms Post would note, is not one of them. /1

"Article 1, Section 9 states: “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States.” But what are titles like ambassador, general, president, and senator—used for life and not just to indicate a temporary appointment—if not titles of nobility?" foreignpolicy.com/2023/05/06/us-

Full disclosure: my mom has gone to a doc in the system for 30 yrs. She's boosted but her immune system is so bad that she might get really sick/die if she's reinfected. She got COVID while she masked & others didn't. She can't ask her doctor to wear a mask??

Very concerned to see that @MassGenBrigham is telling patients that they "cannot ask staff members to wear a mask"! #KeepMasksInHealthCare massgeneralbrigham.org/en/patient-car
Text: I'd be more comfortable if my doctor, nurse, or other care provider wore a mask. Can I ask them to?

No. You cannot ask staff members to wear a mask because our policies no longer require it. Our system is adhering to current public health recommendations.

A death every 3 minutes (likely a lot more), many hospitalised, millions with Long Covid. Why is this not an emergency? It’s a poor choice not to treat it as an emergency. It’s a choice to ignore mass death, disruption and disability. #CovidIsntOver #COVIDisAirborne #WearAMask

"It is therefore with great hope that I declare #COVID19 over as a global health emergency. However, that does not mean COVID-19 is over as a global health threat. Last week, COVID-19 claimed a life every three minutes – and that’s just the deaths we know about"-@DrTedros

If thousands are dying every week, millions have developed chronic illness, and many more are being excluded from fully participating in society due to government abandonment, that isn't the end of an emergency. In truth, it's the beginning of a new long-term emergency.

1,897 people were arrested last year for fare evasion on the New York City subways, but Daniel Penny is still free after killing Jordan Neely, an unhoused man in need of mental health care, on the F train. That’s not a justice system. That’s a class system.

If a domestic terrorist who took part in an attempted coup deserves a quarter century in prison, what sentence should the person who instigated the coup attempt, without whom none of this would have happened, receive?

Prosecutors are freely labeling what Rhodes and his allies did as "terrorism, and embracing the notion that steep punishment for him and his allies is necessary as a deterrent for future attacks on democracy. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/2380

A pelican befriended a stray dog who was often spotted hanging out all alone along the boat docks. The man who photographed this has adopted him but brings him back every day to see his friend, Petey the Pelican.

Well, it didn't take me long. A week after finishing the Dragonbone Chair, I started the 2nd book in Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series. Stone of Farewell is fantastic. I can't stop reading this masterpiece! I can't get enough of Osten Ard.
