        Magnificent to look at in the old fashioned RN way, but last war’s weaponry - alas. No chance of survival in modern general war, no strategic purpose, insufficient escorts & destructive of U.K. defence budget.

        Carriers are modern and current "weaponry". All major countries are building them. They are built to take hits and survive. They have a very clear strategic purpose and there is sufficient escorts for a carrier.
