A great article highlighting the capability of the RN and RAF F35 force, and showcasing just how much more capable this aircraft is compared to its illustrious predecessors. https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news-and-latest-activity/news/2019/october/24/191024-f-35-fully-loaded?fbclid=IwAR2utDFLIQbrz-9XenDuF3PiEXnUwvY1xmcXNVFCBXTI-Er-W-LKn0ySLqA …

It’s a genuinely highly capable platform, but has avionics excellence made fighter jets too precious for a scrap against peers. Harrier and Lancaster needed significantly less engineering support & application of cotton wool. Can we patch it and send it straight back up.

Ah but apparently @HMSQNLZ has scientists now!

Quite, though my main concern’s operating from air bases, they’re easy static targets, can be preemptively struck from outside UK waters & airspace, and I’m just not sure this platform will be allowed to taxi past the rubble, let alone get fixed fast & thrown back into the fight.

My point about scientists was sarcasm, the RN over the past recent years has been over making its trades essentially they are no different than before. This is no deployment they are on but a PR work up with very few cabs on board. I see your point on battle damage, it’s a worry

Research 1710 Naval Air Squadron Mr Charles. If you would like to speak to one of the civilian scientists, who I can assure you are not a PR trick, I can arrange a Q&A session. You can see more of their work on BBC2 from 2000 tomorrow evening.

A Q&A would be amazing with your scientists - the boffins deserve more recognition!

I’m presuming when you finally deploy with a full CAG you will have civilian scientists? I was reliably informed by an AET that they are far more qualified than AEMs were so why the need? Also in my day a carrier was extremely formal...Mr?

So I watched your program. You seem to have a v capable ship which is impressive. I forget that the majority will have never seen fixed wing ops and will struggle with a full CAG. Lack of swearing odd. 6 arrests and a full HODS? Why it’s not many. >

Hope to see some proper mass deck life with all that space plenty of space to stow extra beer. Good to hear about Jack London knew of him, we had Oz Philips bang out of an FA2 coming back onboard Illustrious 96’ about 8pm watch handover. >
