Essentially they would use internal bays only during the initial action, taking out air defences etc, once the threat environment allows they can use the pylon attached weapons.

Doubtful, as a F-35B in "Beat" mode would then have to DUMP all this unused ordnance before landing. One of the MANY limitation arising from the govt not opting for a catapult launch system for the QEC.
F-35Cs would have been a better acquisition all round.
