I couldn't make it, but watched the arrival over the web - somehow, even without birds on your deck, it brought a sense of pride, order and balance to my life to know we had a carrier in home waters once again
A year ago today we entered our Homeport @HMNBPortsmouth for the first time.
With not much notice, Pompey and 
still managed to fill the Round Tower, Southsea Seafront and the water to set the benchmark for 50 years of homecomings; and what a sight it was.
