The 90s in the west had a feeling of optimism that I have never felt since. Even into the early 2000s. Before the smart fones came and sucked away the soul of the masses.
Now that you mention it, yeah. Maybe the pivotal moment was 9/11. That was when it all went to hell. I remember I visited the US in 1999. Then on 2005. It FELT like an entirely different country. I was horrified.
