I remember when I started writing people would say “go and do a creative writing course or go to uni etc” Glorified procrastination IMO. I wanted to write. Not sit with a bunch of NPCs and talk about how to write. Just get it done and quit dancing around it

Many skills can be learnt…but if you’re naturally talented at something, it’s better to hone those skills yourself rather than get sidetracked by a “formal education” Issue is, not many pursue their natural talents and just go for what society tells them they must do.

Imo the skill really being learned is discipline. Normal society lacks that and all the natural/spiritual benefits that come with such a skill
