I grew up in the 90s/early 2000s, and I remember when we all knew what was going on in our town and maybe the next few towns along the road - the latest abortion laws in the USA were not important.

That's the downside of the internet. It encourages us to become obsessed with things thousands of miles away which will probably never actually affect our lives. I was born in '87 and recall the 90s similarly. But on the other hand, it let's people like you and I to connect.
