That's the downside of the internet. It encourages us to become obsessed with things thousands of miles away which will probably never actually affect our lives. I was born in '87 and recall the 90s similarly. But on the other hand, it let's people like you and I to connect.
The internet was better when it was done in a ritualistic manner, you sat down at PC, dial tone in, messed around for a while, then back outside to play football lol
