The biggest psyop I heard recently was the one about The Matrix movie being symbolic of men transitioning to women. Why would you go to those lengths and write such a complex plot to symbolise that? I reckon it's made up to discredit people who use the concepts from the movie.

I think that mostly comes from the directors both transitioning after the movies
Initially the wachowskis refused to comment on the themes of their movies allowing the audience to interpret them as they will. (No directors commentary on matrix dvds but instead two philosophers and two critics commentary).
