There are 3 types of traffic online. 1. Traffic you own. This is best because you have full control & ownership. 2. Traffic you buy. This is 2nd best. You have some degree of control & contractual rights. 3. Traffic you borrow. This is worst, it can be taken with no recourse.

However, each has a cost. Traffic you own is most expensive, you have to build a list (not free, expensive in fact) Traffic you buy is in the middle, you can pay for ads, shout-outs, etc at reasonably low cost. Traffic you borrow is cheapest, but least reliable, least stable.

Bingo, that's why I'm writing the blog. Important to take the traffic to a source I control. Reckon 1000 email subs is more valuable than 10k twitter followers Rob?

I’d say 1k:10k would be close to on par, depending on how well you monetise the list.

Also - don't use MailChimp use aweber and just to be safe. Keep the actual emails offline in case they nuke your account in the future.

Can mail chimp Nuke the account and block access to my list?
