If the worst case happens as you are suggesting, it would be good to be at least somewhat prepared for it. If it does not come to that, at least you are no worse off.
The major benefit of being like me, and many others like me is - Once you understand the most extreme POVs and outcomes, you can always dial it back down and be very well versed in the less extreme day to day arguments and outcomes. It's easier to turn a loud mix down.
