Other than Nigeria, India and Turkey... Who else is rumoured to be going to ban? I heard there were chatroom rumours, which likely precipitated the panic selling in the last 24 hrs. Are those the rumours were talking about?
My point was back in like 2013/14 etc one bad news story or social media rumour would tank the price for years in some cases. Now they have little or no effect.

Yes. Even if the US decides to actually ban it at this stage, it won't depress the price for years. Maybe months. Smaller countries (ie any other country) banning will cause momentary bumps like this one. You can't kill an idea whose time has come.
