I spent 4 days with Russian soldiers once. In the forest & mountains, harsh terrain. One of them had old boots which fell apart. He simply took the detached sole, made DUCT-TAPE boots around his feet and kept going blisters & all. Not a SINGLE complaint! Tough motherfuckers.
