Is there a trick to checking if audio is loud enough. E.g. still not loud enough at max volume on some speakers ? What am I looking for in terms of levels

Yeah. U dont need to spend big Sol Brah. Just set of monitors and keep the levels green when you mix it. Most software has some basic mixing features. Compression, DB levels, EQ etc.

Respectfully disagree- it’s better to preview audio on a laptop or even different laptops and phones because that’s where most people will hear it.
