I think respect is multi-faceted. There is self-respect. There is positive respect (given to those whose actions, integrity is of merit), negative respect (those who instill fear) Boundaries are demanded, not earned. IMO, respect can only be ascertained once you’ve been observed
Your either respected or not. No middle ground. Its like attraction. You can't negotiate geninue attraction.

I do think, unlike attraction, you don’t know right out of the gate whether or not that person is worthy of positive respect.
Attraction can be gauged instantly. Positive respect takes a little longer. That’s what I refer to as earned vs taken.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
