You need to have some degree of ruthlessness in your character. Otherwise things wont usually go your way

Why do bad things happen to good people? Good question. It can't be Karma because they only do good deeds. It's probably because good people on average tend to be "too good" for their own good Nature punishes weakness. No place for a passive attitude in life. You will be consumed

If only good things would come to those doing good deeds, every human being by now would have learned to only do good and dispense with the bad. The world being not fair is the best test of character especially because bad things also happen to the doers of good deeds.

Do good despite not being rewarded. Can you do that? Can you live like that on a long term basis? Can you do good without expecting in return? This will prove character.

Agreed with your take, but here's what I would like to add from my experience so far: Many times I have also seen bad things happening to good people, not because of their extra goodness, but because they happened to be at a certain place in a certain time period.

I have asked myself this question a lot of times. Why them or me? The only answers I could come up with is either it has to be coincidence or there's something that wants you to overcome the gigantic lava of chaos because if you overcome, you'll be a whole new person, a rebirth.
