This is why everyone should consider Linux: You just never know when a big company (Microsoft, Apple, Google) are going to change their TOS in an attempt to fatten their bottom line.https://twitter.com/VennStone/status/1138982964963024897 …

As long as there are companies and individuals supporting Linux financially, or as a tak at work. Because I hardly believe Linux can work only with people working as volonteers at their leisure times, although that can be an important component.

I don't think it needs financial support, the nature of open source is that we all benefit when more contribute. Sure, it's taken longer than an OS backed by money, but it will be around longer as it's not subject to the whims of profiteers.

I'm thinking of Linux Kernel and Linux Foundation, both supported by business. And ex. the popular Ubuntu comes from a company. And Mint use donations from individuals and companies to pay developers etc. But absolutely, volonteers as well. And some Linux-OS maybe fully vol.

I agree that business dollars brings Linux into the mainstream, and it's an obvious choice for those with goals not dictated by short sighted corporate quarterly profit goals, but the nature of open source makes investment an inevitability, not a requirement.

Still, I agree, to consider to use Linux for individuals as well as business. And it is still a big difference with Linux Free Open source and those other you mentioned.

Linux has already outlived the MacOS (current versions are based on XNU so it's getting there) and Windows will now have a Linux kernel. Linux will become the standard because it is open source, just as PC's became the standard due to open architecture.
